Welcome to The Darkives

Your comprehensive guide to getting started

1

Create Your Account

Click 'Sign Up' in the navigation header. Choose a unique username that will represent you in the community. Enter your email address and create a secure password (minimum 8 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols). You'll receive a confirmation email - click the link to verify your account and unlock all features.

Pro Tip: Choose a memorable username - it becomes your identity in the paranormal research community and appears on all your contributions.

2

Complete Your Profile

Navigate to your profile by clicking your username in the header, then select 'Edit Profile'. Upload a profile picture to personalize your presence. Write a bio describing your interests in the paranormal - are you a skeptic, believer, or researcher? Select your profile type (Individual Investigator, Research Team, etc.). Add links to your website or social media if you wish to share them.

Profile Types:

  • • Individual Investigator: Solo researchers and enthusiasts
  • • Research Team: Organized investigation groups
  • • Historic Location: Official accounts for haunted sites
  • • Paranormal Organization: Established societies and institutes
  • • Media/Content Creator: Journalists, YouTubers, podcasters
3

Explore the Map

The interactive map is the heart of The Darkives. Browse thousands of documented paranormal locations worldwide. Use filters to find specific phenomena types (apparitions, poltergeists, UFOs, cryptids, etc.). Click location pins to view full details, history, reported phenomena, and submitted evidence. Zoom into your local area to discover haunted locations you never knew existed.

Map Controls: Use the drawing tools to highlight areas, measure distances between locations, or toggle historical map overlays to see how locations looked in the past.

4

Check-In to Locations

When you visit a location, use the 'Check-In' button to log your visit. This tracks your investigation history and contributes to your activity score. Add notes about your experience, upload photos or evidence collected during your visit, and tag any witnesses or team members who were with you. Your check-ins help build a timeline of activity at each location.

5

Connect with the Community

Follow other investigators whose work interests you. React to reports and evidence to show support or skepticism. Leave thoughtful comments sharing your insights or asking questions. Join discussions in the community forums. Use the messaging system to connect privately with other researchers. Remember: respect and open-mindedness are core values here.

Quick Tips for Success

  • •Be Detailed: The more information you provide in reports and location submissions, the more valuable they become for research.
  • •Stay Active: Regular contributions increase your activity level and unlock additional features.
  • •Quality Over Quantity: Thoughtful, well-documented submissions earn more points than rushed entries.
  • •Engage Respectfully: Healthy skepticism is welcome, but always treat others' experiences with respect.
  • •Back Up Claims: Whenever possible, include sources, references, or corroborating evidence.
