This history is often linked to the purported hauntings observed today. One of the most frequently cited locations for unexplained phenomena in Shirebrook is the area around the former Shirebrook Colliery site. Reports here include sightings of shadowy figures, auditory phenomena such as disembodied voices and machinery sounds when no equipment is present, and sensations of being watched or unexplained cold spots.
