Staveley, a town and civil parish in the Borough of Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England, has a history interspersed with reports of paranormal activity. While not as extensively documented as some other locations in England, local folklore and investigations have contributed to a body of accounts describing unexplained phenomena in Staveley. These reports often center around historical buildings and sites within the town, reflecting a common pattern in discussions of haunted locations. One prominent area of interest for those investigating paranormal activity in Staveley is the vicinity of Staveley Hall. The Hall, with its centuries of history, has been the subject of various anecdotal claims of supernatural occurrences. These range from fleeting apparitions observed by staff and visitors to unexplained temperature drops and disembodied voices heard within its older sections. Similar reports extend to the grounds surrounding the Hall, with some accounts describing encounters with figures believed to be former residents or individuals associated with the property's past. The adjacent churchyard, characteristic of many ancient burial grounds, has also been a focus for some researchers exploring unexplained phenomena in Staveley, with occasional reports of spectral presences or unusual light anomalies. Beyond Staveley Hall, other historical structures and specific areas within the town have garnered attention for alleged haunted Staveley incidents. Old pubs and cottages, some dating back several centuries, have been the source of tales involving poltergeist activity, such as moving objects or unexplained noises. Some locals have reported experiences inconsistent with rational explanation, including feelings of being watched or fleeting glimpses of figures disappearing from view in certain alleyways or historic lanes. While concrete evidence for these occurrences remains elusive, these accounts contribute to the town's local paranormal lore and continue to be discussed among enthusiasts of the supernatural. The historical depth of Staveley provides fertile ground for such narratives, and paranormal groups occasionally conduct investigations in the hope of documenting and understanding these alleged events.
