The area's secluded nature and ancient origins, including proximity to Dartmoor, are often cited by enthusiasts as potential contributors to its alleged haunted status. One recurring theme in accounts of paranormal activity in Northcott centers around a specific cluster of old cottages and farmhouses. Witnesses have reported sightings of shadowy figures, particularly near windows and in doorways, often described as fleeting and indistinct. Disembodied whispers and the sounds of footsteps in empty rooms are also frequently mentioned.
