Many of these reports are concentrated around older structures and ancient pathways that crisscross the landscape. Eyewitness testimonies often describe encountering transient figures in period clothing, particularly near the parish church and the dilapidated ruins of what is believed to have been a medieval manor house. One of the most frequently cited instances of paranormal activity in Portway involves the purported haunting of the old mill on the River Dore.
