Reports of apparitions, poltergeist activity, and other inexplicable occurrences contribute to the reputation of haunted Oadby among some residents and paranormal enthusiasts. Detailed records of these events, often passed down through generations, primarily involve historical buildings and former industrial sites within the town, though some residential properties have also been mentioned. One notable location frequently cited in discussions of Oadby's paranormal history is the historic Gartree Road stretch. Some suggest these sightings relate to historical events linked to the ancient Roman road that once traversed the area. Another area of interest for those investigating unexplained phenomena in Oadby is the vicinity of the former Oadby Wigston Union Workhouse, now partially redeveloped. Accounts from individuals who have worked or resided near the site occasionally mention disembodied voices and objects moving without a discernible cause, leading to speculation about residual energy or spiritual presences connected to its past. Beyond specific locations, broader patterns of paranormal activity in Oadby include reports of cold spots in otherwise warm rooms, sudden drops in temperature, and the unsettling feeling of being watched. Such incidents are not confined to a single area but have been reported intermittently across the town. Local historical societies and paranormal research groups have occasionally conducted investigations into these claims, though their findings are typically speculative and lack scientific consensus.
