While no official investigations by academic institutions have corroborated these claims, local lore and personal testimonies contribute to a notable collection of stories suggesting Drayton is a location with a surprising amount of supernatural happenings. These accounts often focus on specific historic buildings and areas within the village, reflecting a common pattern seen in many localities reported to be haunted. The Old Vicarage, now a private residence, is frequently cited in discussions of haunted Drayton. Residents and former occupants have reported disembodied voices, unexplained temperature drops, and objects moving on their own. One recurring narrative involves the apparition of a former vicar, distinguishable by his clerical collar, who is said to silently traverse the upper floors. Similarly, the vicinity of St. Margaret's Church has generated stories of ghostly figures observed in the churchyard during late hours. Witnesses have described fleeting glimpses of a woman in period clothing, often vanishing without a trace upon closer inspection. These sightings contribute to the broader perception of paranormal activity in Drayton. Beyond specific locations, some Drayton residents have reported more generalized unexplained phenomena. These include inexplicable electrical disturbances in homes, sounds of footsteps in empty rooms, and sudden, strong scents of flowers or tobacco appearing and disappearing abruptly. Stories of strange lights in the sky above the Drayton marshes are also sporadically reported, although these are often attributed to atmospheric conditions or distant light sources. Collectively, these diverse accounts paint a picture of a village with a rich, if unverified, history of encounters with the inexplicable, making "haunted Drayton" a topic of local curiosity and discussion. While evidence for these occurrences remains anecdotal, the persistent nature of these reports solidifies Drayton's place in local folklore regarding the supernatural.
