Ruffs, a village in Nottinghamshire, England, has been the site of numerous reports concerning paranormal phenomena and unexplained events throughout its history. Documented accounts of unusual occurrences in Ruffs date back to the late 19th century, with a significant concentration of reports emerging from specific locales within the village. One of the most frequently cited locations for supernatural activity is the former Ruffs Grange, a building that stood until the mid-20th century. Witnesses often described phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, and objects moving on their own within its walls. These early reports contributed to Ruffs developing a local reputation for being a site of persistent paranormal activity. Modern reports continue to detail a variety of phenomena, contributing to the enduring interest in haunted Ruffs. Residents and visitors have reported sightings of apparitions, particularly a figure believed to be a former resident of the Grange, often seen near its original foundations. Cold spots, sudden drops in temperature inexplicable by environmental factors, are also frequently mentioned, especially in older buildings and along certain pathways within the village. Electronic voice phenomena (EVP) recordings, purportedly capturing vocalizations not audible to the human ear, have been presented by amateur paranormal investigators conducting investigations in the area. These investigations often focus on areas with historical significance or those previously identified as hotspots for unexplained phenomena Ruffs. Beyond apparitions and auditory disturbances, there have been accounts of poltergeist activity, primarily involving minor disruptions such as doors opening and closing by themselves, or small items being displaced. While no destructive poltergeist events have been widely documented, the persistent nature of these lesser incidents adds to the lore surrounding paranormal activity Ruffs. Some theories attempt to link these occurrences to historical events or tragic incidents that may have occurred in the village's past, although concrete evidence for such connections remains elusive. The cumulative effect of these reports over several decades has solidified Ruffs' place in regional folklore as a location marked by a high frequency of unexplained incidents.
