The locale, particularly its older structures and surrounding countryside, has become a focal point for those interested in inexplicable occurrences. Reports of unexplained phenomena in Bolton stretch back centuries, often involving auditory experiences and sightings of apparitions. Local legends frequently speak of a 'Grey Lady' said to roam the grounds of some of the village's historic homes, her presence sometimes accompanied by a sudden drop in temperature or the scent of lavender. The former Bolton Tower, or what remains of it, is frequently cited as a site of significant paranormal activity in Bolton. Although largely ruins today, tales persist of disembodied voices and spectral figures seen near its ancient foundations. Investigators of the supernatural have reported fluctuations in electromagnetic fields and inexplicable cold spots within the tower's vicinity. Furthermore, some visitors have claimed to experience feelings of unease or being watched while exploring the site. These reports contribute to the area's reputation as a location with a high propensity for the supernatural. Beyond the ruins, the old Bolton Parish Church and its adjacent graveyard have also been subjects of numerous accounts of haunted Bolton. There have been multiple reported sightings of shadowy figures moving between the gravestones at dusk, and some have claimed to hear faint chanting emanating from within the empty church late at night. Witnesses have described instances of objects moving on their own within the church building, such as hymnals falling from shelves without obvious cause. The presence of these consistent and varied reports has fascinated both locals and paranormal enthusiasts who seek to understand the nature of these recurrent phenomena in Bolton.
